The Brewery Garden, where the Krumbenowe Merchant Settlement is regularly held, isn’t just any old garden. The magic inherent in this old picturesque and shady garden is accentuated by its close proximity to the Český Krumlov old town and the banks of the Vltava River. But there’s something more – this is where one of the oldest stories of the original settlement inside the river meanders of Český Krumlov begins. In 1992, archaeological research revealed traces of Paleolithic hunters and gatherers here in the garden as well as the first farmers of the Linear Pottery Culture and the first Slavonic settlement from the 8th century, which is just about the time that the Slavic tribes arrived to this part of Europe. And this is the real reason why we decided to break camp for the Krumbenowe Merchant Settlement here; as prehistoric and medieval merchants, we feel right at home here. Come join us, and experience the story of animated history “in situ”.
